Catch The Spirit Of Cavett Robert

Cavett once said “If you don't think every day is a good day, just try missing one.”

Cavett Robert (1907 - 1997) is considered by many to be the founder of the modern professional speaking industry. He was a good Mississippi boy and Ole’ Miss graduate and began his career as a teacher in his home state. Returning to school he studied law at Washington and Lee and became a lawyer in New York City and Arizona and then a highly successful and groundbreaking salesperson. His success in selling and creating new methods (such as “preneed” selling) led him into the field of training and “professional speaking.”

After joining Toastmasters International he became the World Champion Of Public Speaking after his 2nd attempt. Through his tireless efforts and his “If its to be it's up to me” mentaility he eventually established the National Speakers Association in 1972 after many years of trying.

One of Cavett’s tenants was to help “build a bigger pie” for other professional speakers and to help others learn and grow in the speaking industry.

Cavett, may your generous spirit, your gracious attitude and your legacy live on forever!
